As a global company, they have over 5000 customers in nearly 100 countries. RESPONSIBILITES Develop operating plans for mine sites according to procedures and accepted professional practice. Develop clearing, mining, tailings, and reclamation plans. Design tailings impoundments, perform as-built calculations, and certify construction. Provide mine permit support Responsible for monthly and annual corporate reporting of various mining statistics Undertake feasibility studies of mine sites in the corporate 10 year plan according to the adopted formats and standards. Calculate mining reserves for deposits as required, according to the procedures and accepted professional practice Assist in the development of processing requirements for future mine sites as required by using a high level of team work within and across departments. Provide technical support for the operations GPS surveying equipment Assist the operations department in the development of production, capital and operating budgets as required. Participate in the continual review of mining and planning procedures and make recommendations as required Assist in the development of mining strategies for company held resources Stay aware of evolving technology that may be applicable to mining operations by an ongoing review of relevant industry literature and operations. Undertake equipment efficiency studies at operating sites as required QUALIFICATIONS BS in Mining Engineering or related discipline Computer and design skills with proficiency in CAD, 3-D geologic modeling and optimization, spreadsheet development, surveying software, volume calculations, and other systems as required 0-5 years industry experience in surface mining. Mine Engineer To develop and implement business practices within mine engineering that align with organizations overall strategy. FUNCTIONS Develop mining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long range planning and production goals. Monitor mining methods and equipment to improve performance; ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods and procedures. Serve as liaison with Federal, State and Local regulators. Completing, or overseeing completion of all required reports, certifications and recertifications. Work closely with Operations to ensure that designs are implemented in the field. Promote and coordinate continuous process improvement initiatives. Establish and maintain effective work and communication relationships within departments, ensuring that efficient day to day operational decisions can be achieved. Provide guidance and counsel to site management on applicable programs and practices. Remain current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance. Complete special projects as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS B.S in Mining Engineering 3 to 8 years experience in Mine Planning, Mine Scheduling, Mine Geology/Geotechnical, or Mine Production with ability to evaluate ore grade/quality, cut-off grade, blending, slope stability, mine capacity, and production strategies. Proficient in mining design software such as Surpac, MineSite, Gemcom. Vulcan or equivalent. Experience with Whittle, AutoCAD and Data Bases. Background in reserves calculation and reporting Proficient in Microsoft office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills. |
