Director Technical Services and Engineering
Company  : Significant International Leader in Specialty Chemicals / Minerals

Director Technical Services and Engineering

Our client has been a world leader in their focus for over 150 years. This longevity can be attributed to a strong R&D program which consistently leads to the development of key specialty chemicals and products for a diverse customer base.  Applications for their products are numerous and span various industries such as pharmaceuticals, beverage, personal care, household, industrial and institutional cleaning, coatings and adhesives, and agriculture.  As a global company, they have over 5000 customers in nearly 100 countries.

Responsible for leading the capital projects and develop new processes.  Direct reports include Project Engineers, Project Managers and Process Engineers.  Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, budget, coordinate resources, plan execution and ensure all capital projects are completed according to schedule and costs, and deliver benefits as anticipated
  • Ensure that all plant upgrades and installation of equipment are completed according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines
  • Work with Operations teams to manage the following budgetary goals
  • Ensure that employees understand goals and are fully engaged in achieving them. Develop short and long term operating plans including annual budgets
  • Manage productivity and costs to meet the financial plans
  • Lead process and quality improvement efforts to improve profitability and customer satisfaction – for both existing operations as well as new product initiatives
Qualifications should include:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. MBA is desired.
•    Demonstrated record of accomplishment in project management, safety, reliability and process improvement.
•    5+ years of senior leadership/management experience
•    10+ years of overall experience in engineering management.
•    Ability to blend coaching, modeling, managing and recruiting to effectively drive improved results, develop employees and strengthen operations
•    Understanding of PLC and HMI systems
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Excellent written, analytical and financial skills
•    Strong presentation skills using PowerPoint and Excel to illustrate capital projects, cost, timing, alternatives and contingencies.
