ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER - Title V Knowledge Necessary

Direct permitting and compliance including the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive environmental management system for the operations. This position provides the leadership and expertise to obtain permits from local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Reports directly to the Executive Team and supports and directs the site management teams.



        Develops, implements and maintains comprehensive management systems in support of the company Policy, Code of Conduct, and Commitment statement

        Coordinates, monitors and evaluates the management systemís effectiveness; recommends appropriate corrective actions as required

        Ensures compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

        Keeps abreast of all current and pending regulations

        Works closely with the Site Managers and employees at all levels to maintain a safe and healthy work environment

        Conducts/coordinates accident investigations, with particular attention given to the identification of root causes and effective corrective actions

        Maintains a database for all environmental permits at the sites

        Submits applications for renewal, modification, and/or change to the siteís environmental permits

        Determine the need for outside environmental consultants, and gains approval prior to contracting their services

        Provides leadership and guidance to the individual plant safety committees

        Coordinates/conducts training for all employees, contractors and site visitors; ensures proper training documentation and maintains training record files as indicated by company policy and regulatory requirements

        Coordinates/conducts health and industrial hygiene monitoring activities

        Job responsibilities may require travel to other company operations as defined



        Bachelorís degree in a related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline and/or equivalent
experience; bachelorís degree preferred

        Minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy industry or related field

        Skill in auditing/inspecting operations and company procedures

        Ability to develop and implement effective strategies and management systems

        Knowledge of financial and business analysis techniques

        Knowledge of facility and operational procedures

        Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees at all levels of the company

        Must be well-versed in all aspects of environmental regulations, permitting, and sampling, with heavy emphasis in Title V air permitting including new source review, air permitting in non-attainment areas, and compliance air monitoring (CAM) plans

        Strong background with UPDES/NPDES water permitting, sampling, reporting, and compliance; spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) compliance

        Experience to also include RCRA compliance and completing and submitting annual regulatory reports including TIER II, AEI, and TRI reports.  

        Track record of timely follow-up and incident reporting and accurate collection and tracking of required data is essential.
